Several minor tributaries join the Amazon between Nauta and Iquitos, and most have jungle lodges constructed on them. Among the most noteworthy is the architecturally stunning Amazon Yarapa River Lodge, with tropical research laboratory used by Cornell University, on the Rio Yarapa , 80 miles (129 km) from Iquitos.
